Deutschland vor, noch ein Tor

Postby whynot42 on June 11th, 2008, 7:23 am

seems that not only have I had to become a football, basketball fan(offspring no longer watches sports w/The Dad)

Now w/the prospect of adding a South American to the family- I have to add the sport of soccer(football) to my repertoire.

Don't some of ya'lls youngsters play "football".

If so- do you and yours follow the sport????

So maybe you can help him(the boy) help me appear really cool. Like- what are the really big games going on. who is playing who, etc.

I am not really so cool- Dtr's BF had this phrase next to his on-line chat name.

The other day when BF was supposed to be taking my dtr to the doctor for her shot- there was a soccer game going on that he was watching. So- apparently his mom kept yelling at him to take dtr to doctor and quit watching the game. I was so proud of my dtr- she wasn't whining and willing to let him finish watching the game before taking her. She did get some evil delight listening to his mom yell at him though. They finally took off to the doctor. I had asked her if the soccer game was over. She said, "No. But he is tired of hearing his mom yell at him. TeeHee"

The best was wehn they returned- only about 20 minutes later- BF got on-line to give me a report. I asked him to tell me how things were going- with dtr not asking for a report on the soccer game. He IM'd me back. "She is doing better, some relief of pain, and color improving, and Italy is ahead by 1.

Hi, Mrs. Whynot, I just figured I'd tell you all about the beautiful game... First things first, Italy's the best, bar none... Statistics say it's Brazil, but i don't like them, and, if he's Venezuelan, he doesn't like them either. Also, there are two different kinds of pro soccer. 1) national, which is like the World Cup and the Olympics (This is like Italy playing England and stuff like that) and 2) Club, that's UEFA (United European Football Association) and MLS (Major League Soccer <USA>) In Club, AC Milan is the best. Right now, there aren't many club games going on. The Champions league, which is the best from all the leagues of Europe playing against each other is over and Manchester United won it. Right now, the best games you're going to find are the games from the Euro 2008. It's all the best national teams from Europe. It's supposed to be Italy and France in the final this go around, but I'm thinking it's going to be Italy and Spain.(They're rivals and doing the best out of all Europe right now)

That site should have the schedule

Awesome- So I am taking notes, taking notes. So- am i correct concluding that the tournament going on right now is the one you posted in the link. And probably not a good thing that Holland beat Italy.

BTW- so what and whynot if Mr. FT is at work. Haven't you ever heard of stealing passwords. O.K. maybe you should get permission. No wait. Better stay w/mom's screenname. I think that there is some kind of initiation to Ragner's Hall that i suspect has an age requirement. I am so evil.

P.S. I also suspect that BF must favor Germany, since he did post this phrase and he claims German decent on his father's side.

Why do guys do that? Like you would think that my son was a Celtic, at the very least Irish. Isn't red-blooded American Heinz fifty-seven good enough? :D :D

Well...... (It's me K again.....) it's appears that TheBoy is being pretty optimistic about his beloved Italy. Right now they are at the bottom of their group.

That scedule the boy posted was really helpful. I even already know what you mean by "group". Once i figure out what kind of competition w/germany and Italy there is, then i can razz the boy into some bantering.

Wish I had the soccer channel.
