Stinking more and more...

Postby FatTony on February 13th, 2009, 9:51 am

The reconciled "stimulus" bill is to be voted on today. It is some 600 pages long and spends about $780,000,000,000.00 taxpayer dollars, incidentally, money that we do not have yet. As of 4:00PM Thursday, the written bill had not been made available for our representatives to read it. No one has read the entire bill!

The Dems had promised to post the entire bill on the Internet for 48 hours so the taxpayers could read it and comment on it. Well surprise surprise, they changed their minds. There will be no public airing of the bill. The only information we are getting is dribs and drabs. We know the staggering total, but have no real details as to the specifics. What we do know is scary.

There is the $650,000,000.00 to get the poor better TV access.

There is $300,000,000.00 to develop Neighborhood Electric Vehicles, (NEVs). To those of you unfamiliar with this concept, an NEV is a road legal golf cart. They are already on the market and are not selling. The largest manufacturers of golf carts are EZ GO and Club Car, both headquartered in my home town. Which one got the money? Neither. Chrysler will develop these things. Chrysler has never built a golf cart, but they do have a UNION workforce that the Dems are going to protect with our tax money.

There are hundreds of millions in the bill for "faith based programs". Obama loves the faith based programs so much that he expanded the funding to "community based programs" Community organizers...that's right, ACORN is going to receive a heaping helping of our financial hospitality.

This bill is a stinker. From start to finish it is a giveaway of our money on an epic scale. Not reviewed by the public, not reviewed in detail by our representatives, passed in the dark of a smoke(less) filled room. Loaded with pork, patronage and protections and goodies for the least productive segments of our society.

Oh yeah, Obama's vaunted tax breaks for the "middle class"? We are going to see a whopping $13.00 per week increase in our take home pay. I'm going to use mine to buy a decent cigar and a descent beer. I'm stimulated.

wow, maybe I can a pizza one a week with that.

If Oklahoma had some access to the ocean like Texas does, I'd say we just opt out of the US all together.

I"m starting to think the folks in the "old south" had the right idea back in the 1860s.

Not thinking, knowing. Federalism is dead and Lincoln killed it. we now get to suffer the one thing the Founders warned us about the most, that power ceded to a centralized government ALWAYS results in tyranny.

One day very soon the people are going to take to the streets in protest. On that day, the President will declare Martial Law and the military will be ordered to shoot or detain American citizens. On that day our streets will be awash in red, that blood of the patriot running cold with that of the oppressor. I'm am afraid that end result of three generations of unrestrained liberlism in our schools will be a timid populace who neither understand their inalienable rights, nor is at all inclined to defend them. On that day, guys like me and Tony and the Doc will be faced with the ultimate choice: liberty or death.

The 3rd revolution is not long in coming now, and this time there won't be a Lee or Jackson, a Davis or Stevens to stand on our side. We'll have to do it ourselves.

Boy loggie wishes that doesn't have to happen, but you're right nonetheless. We have never been closer to a coup d'etat in this country than we are right now. However, keep in mind that the reasons for the upcoming coup are going to be very much different than the reasons for the Revolution. The revolution was against taxation which in modern terms was actually financially inconsequential in today's dollars. The revolution was against a government that was more oppressive than corrupt.

The upcoming coup is against a entire society that is more corrupt than oppressive. It isn't just CEOs that are walking away with millions without having to serve a day in arrest that grates. We have hollywood and the power elite nationwide that have us pay for a 33 year old airhead having a herd of children at our expense.

So not to sound like a fear monger, but what would you suggest we do to prepare our families for this? Stay out of the big cities? move to the mountains? stock up on supplies?

I couldn't agree more with the comment about three generations of liberal brainwashing, most people probably won't know what to do. Just look at those idiots at Barrys "town Hall", where are my benefits, my car, my house, etc.

I really hope we have a "soft" revolution. Instead of bullets flying, how about 10% of taxpayers just refuse to file a return. I have a hard time picturing 15 million people arrested for tax evasion. Of course, I do not personally advocate tax resistance, that would be a crime.

I can't envision armed resistance any time soon. To begin with, the proletariat are soft. The masses do not object to confiscatory tax policies because they benefit from them. The average man in the street would trade his freedom for a warm bed and a nice sammich. This "revolution" would have to actually start at the top of the financial food chain.

What percentage of the armed forces do you think would actually fire on civilians that were unarmed? Could it happen, no doubt, but I believe most members of the military are fundamentally conservative. I know that when I was in uniform an officer giving an order to fire into such a crowd would not have lived long afterward. I hope it is the same today.

As far as liberty or death....I choose liberty and life. If worse came to worse, I know that my family and I could live quite comfortably off the land, for a long, long time.

This pile of pork-doo is even worse than I figured. I just found an article from Investor's Business Daily, (IBD).

http://www.ibdeditorial.com/IBDArticles ... 4273223204

Among other things listed in the article:

ACORN gets, not millions, but 2 BILLION DOLLARS!
30 million will be spent to "restore wetlands" in Nancy Pelosi's congressional district.
1 billion goes to funding education on sexually transmitted diseases (FT policy, sit down and keep your mouth shut, no AIDS)
54 billion goes to states and cities running deficits, (rewarding bad behavior, again).

John Boehner's office says that less then 0.3% of the spending will help small businesses, our economy's biggest job producer.

IBD says that the true cost of the bill over the next ten years will not be 789 billion, but more like 3.27 Trillion! Trillion with a T. Including expanding welfare programs by 800 billion over then next 10 years, that figure alone is more than the whole "stimulus" bill combined.

Some things we didn't spend money on:
No money for defence.
No money for energy production.

But what the hell, we each get $13.00 a week, (until January that is, then it will be $8.00 a week  ).

Where the HELL is the press coverage on this boondoggle?

As my friend Bubba is fond of saying, "Well DAYAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM!"

Probably a little late to post this, but at 10PM tonight Fox News will have a special, "Trillion with a T" on this incredible financial enema we have all taken. They will most likely re-air it Sunday, if so I will post Sunday time too.

Let's shoot for 2010 first. It could be another 1994 if this keeps up for 12 more months.
