I don't do this often, but here is the outline from the sermon I preached yesterday. I think it's pretty full and thought you all might be interested. I'd also be open to any feedback you might have.

The Last Days: What in the World is Going On?
1 Tim 3: 1-7
We are living from a place where there is no fear of the Lord

Fear as we know it – terror, anxiety, stress
Fear as God intends it = Awe, Respect, Admiration, Trust

The Kingdom of God is like unto a Piccadilly. We preach a Christianity that permits the person to decide what serving of God he wants as well as the portion size. We end up with all dessert and no veggies.

Why are we doing this??????
Psa. 36: 1-2
Sin whispers to us:
From the inside if we are unbelievers
From the outside if we are believers

What if what we have always thought was correct and right and Godly was really just sin flattering us into stagnation?

How do we overcome this problem?
Recognize the problem – Isa. 6:5, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23
Get the big fix – John 1:12
Clean it up - 2 Corinthians 7:1
Live it out – Genesis 22:12
Get ready for the end – Matt 25:1-13
Place your trust in God – Luke 12:22-34

Really liked this part. Why? Fear in the form of terror, anxiety and stress is ultimately destructive to psyche and body. It is also unnecessary in light of the fear as God intended. God has already told us how things are going to in general turn out. Respect of God can and should lead to respect of others, and that makes life easier for us all. Actually, as Christians interact with the fearmongers of the world our technical response should be, "so what?" . One example, when the worldly fearmongers woe that we're going to blow ourselves up we should be disbelieving because the Word says world without end. The world will burn eventually, but nothing in scripture says the world will blow up.
